Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce the size of a PDF?
Add the PDF, choose a level and press "Compress PDF". "Medium" and "Strong" shrink most files a lot, which is useful for scans and photos.
Will the text still be selectable?
"Light" keeps the PDF as it is, so text stays selectable, but it saves little space. "Medium" and "Strong" turn each page into a compressed picture, so the text can no longer be selected or searched. Use them for scanned documents and forms you only need to read or send.
Why did my file not get smaller?
Some PDFs, for example plain text documents, are already small. If no smaller version can be made, the tool tells you instead of giving you a bigger file.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The PDF is compressed in your browser, on your own device.
Which level should I choose?
"Medium" is a good start for email. Use "Strong" for the smallest file when a little loss of sharpness is fine.
