The Pakistan vs Australia Test series has a date: Pakistan will travel to Australia in December 2027 to play three Tests. Cricket Australia chief executive Todd Greenberg confirmed the plan while discussing the board's future home schedule, and the news was reported on 9 October 2026.

What has been confirmed about the Pakistan vs Australia Test series

Greenberg said Pakistan were an option for a longer series because of the large Pakistani community living in Australia, but the plan for now is three Tests. The series will fall in the next World Test Championship cycle and forms part of Australia's 2027-28 home summer. Sri Lanka are due to visit in February 2028, after the Big Bash League.

The Benaud-Qadir Trophy

Contests between the two sides have been played for the Benaud-Qadir Trophy since 2022. It was launched to honour two leg-spin legends, Richie Benaud of Australia and Abdul Qadir of Pakistan, and is a perpetual trophy presented after every men's Test series between the two countries. Australia won the first edition 1-0 in Pakistan in 2022. We have not yet seen an official statement confirming that the 2027 series will be played for it, though that is the stated arrangement for these series.

How the last tour went

Pakistan last toured Australia for Tests in 2023-24 and lost all three matches. Australia won the first Test by 360 runs, the second by 79 runs and the third by eight wickets. That makes December 2027 a chance for Pakistan to reverse the result in Australian conditions.

Why it matters

  • It gives Pakistan a full three-Test series against Australia in the next WTC cycle
  • It keeps the Benaud-Qadir Trophy rivalry going
  • It gives fans a long-format series to plan around well in advance

Our verdict

Pakistan's Test calendar now has a firm entry for December 2027, but fans should wait for the official fixture list before booking travel or tickets. Check back for updated dates, venues and squads as soon as they are confirmed.
