University of British Columbia Offers a Funded Animal-Science PhD
Eligible doctoral students can receive at least CAD 40,000 a year for four years.
The University of British Columbia is offering Pakistani students a funded PhD in animal science in Canada. Eligible full-time doctoral students are offered a minimum of CAD 40,000 a year for the first four years.
In this article we set out the funding, the subjects, and the two conditions on an application. Here is everything you need to know.
What the University of British Columbia is funding
The minimum package is CAD 40,000 a year for four years, which can total CAD 160,000. The research programme covers animal welfare, behaviour, physiology, reproduction and livestock management.
Money is not the only gate. Applicants must meet the academic requirements and secure a commitment from a potential supervisor before applying. The deadline for the September 2027 intake is 1 February 2027.
Why it matters
A published minimum is more useful than a slogan about funding, because it says what an eligible full-time doctoral student is offered, and for how long. The supervisor's commitment is a step that has to happen before the form, not after.

What happens next
A named supervisor, or a note on how many places are open, would make the deadline easier to plan for. We will update this article if the university publishes either.
